Cost of dynamical quark simulations: O(a) improved Wilson fermions

چکیده

Several collaborations have employed O(a) improved Wilson fermions, following the nonperturbative determination of the clover coefficient csw for Nf = 2 flavours in the range β ≥ 5.2 [1]. UKQCD, QCDSF and JLQCD perform simulations on physically large volumes (L ∼ 1.5 fm) using periodic boundary conditions [2–4], whereas ALPHA use Schrödinger functional (SF) boundary conditions on small volumes (L ≪ 1 fm) [5,6]. In the following I shall discuss the two types of simulations separately.

We report calculations of B K using two flavours of dynamical clover-improved Wilson lattice fermions and look for dependence on the dynamical quark mass at fixed lattice spacing. We see some evidence for dynamical quark effects. In particular B K decreases as the sea quark masses are reduced towards the up/down quark mass. Our meson masses are quite heavy and a firm prediction of B K is a task...

Light hadron spectroscopy with O ( a ) improved dynamical fermions UKQCD Collaboration

We present the first results for the static quark potential and the light hadron spectrum using dynamical fermions at β = 5.2 using an O(a) improved Wilson fermion action together with the standard Wilson plaquette action for the gauge part. Sea quark masses were chosen such that the pseudoscalar-vector mass ratio, mPS/mV, varies from 0.86 to 0.67. Finite-size effects are studied by using three...

Improved flavor symmetry in Kogut-Susskind fermion actions

Dynamical fermion simulations are still one of the challenging problems in lattice QCD. Recently, a lot of work has been devoted to developing improved lattice fermion actions. In this paper, we report our findings on improved KogutSusskind fermions. In particular, we focus on the issue of flavor symmetry, and the construction of an action suitable for dynamical simulations. Kogut-Susskind (KS)...

Light quark masses for dynamical, non-perturbatively O(a) improved Wilson fermions

The calculation of the light quark masses is one of the major aims of lattice gauge theories. In recent years these fundamental parameters have been determined with a rather high accuracy using quenched QCD. At least for the strange quark mass, systematic errors are believed to be under control, except for quenching effects. However, for current simulations of QCD with dynamical fermions this i...

Light hadron spectroscopy with O(a) improved dynamical fermions. We present results for the hadron spectrum and static quark potential from a simulation with two flavours of O(a) improved dynamical Wilson fermions at β = 5.2. We address the issues of sea quark dependence of observables and finite-size effects. Quenching is the only non-systematically im-provable approximation in lattice QCD. Mo...
